Photographing since 1974, Cathy has performed her own darkroom responsibilities, including printing, developing, artistic editing and composition. Working exclusively in the medium of black and white, her efforts have achieved technical elegance demonstrating a true quality un-touched by the onset of the digital age. From 2001 on, Cathy has illustrated her mastery in Sepia thereby enhancing the historical quality of the finished product. Each ultimate piece is a true work of art, sometimes taking 30 hours to complete.
These prints are unique, hand-prepared and timeless. Her photographs of forgotten scenes and now historical memories depict life on the Earth's most spectacular, aesthetic and sacred terrain. All photographs produced in her inventory are hand-processed in a darkroom, hand-spotted and sepia-toned by individual effort. Her images are produced in the traditional concept and not digitally captured or enhanced. Completed photos are burned, dodged and printed on fiber based paper, (now approaching extinction), that demonstrates, (since 1977), years of devotion to her craft. Any Cathy Shine photograph will be an appreciated piece of art and an addition to one's legacy collection.

145On a late morning voyage on the Washington State Ferry, the mid-winter sunlight provided an opportunity to capture a portion of what developed into a beautiful experience. Seattle is a beautiful city. Water everywhere.The entire trip was peaceful and private. No. 145
146In our early days, my husband and I had little money, however we satisfied our urge to travel with late night flights, discounted meals and clean, budget hotel rooms. We visited New York City for our first time and we were ensconced in a beautiful hotel in a basement room. My husband took ill with a severe sore throat and spent the entire 4 days in bed. This photo, through the room's window, reflected our mood and our trip. No. 147
147Constructed by Emperor Franz Joseph, the (Liberty) Freedom Bridge links the Buda side of the Danube to the Pest side. We drove from Prague to Budapest on a early Fall morning. Some time ago, one year after the fall of the iron curtain, we stayed at the Gellert and was captivated by its history and its architecture. This scene was captured from our table at the restaurant.
148From a small medieval hotel, in the Loire' Valley of central France, lies a beautiful village on the Loire' River, called Amboise'. For years, I've photographed views from our hotel rooms. Initially, this effort allowed us to keep track of places in which we stayed. However, all the scenes recorded from these windows have provided very interesting shots. 149My granddaughter Ashley has been our best friend since her birth. I asked Ash to pose for me. A request not often communicated because sponteneity is an important facet of photography. The natural sunlight streaming through the window provided an illumination that illustrated a happy little girl showing her grandma her classroom. Ashley is our love. No. 149
150After Hurricane I'wa in 1982, we decided to abandon our annual visits to Kau'ai and focussed on the Island of Hawai'i to enjoy its culture and diversity. Ater exiting the airport, we experienced a culture shock of endless lava fields and little flora. We landed on the moon! The weeds growing from this volcanic rock seemed like an aberration, yet the beauty of this terrain is unparalleled. No. 150
151On Kauai's north shore, this beach is not very safe for un-prepared swimmers. The spectacular view on this photograph defies description. No. 151
152After a Irish Ferry ride from Dublin to Holyhead, England and a long nightime drive, with the assistance from a police officer, we finally found our hotel in Bath. The following morning I recorded this beautiful view through the hotel room window. The morning "Times" is on the bed. No. 152

154The Pu'u in the distance, beyond the fence, drew my attention. A Pu'u is the geologic remnant after a volcanic-boiling pot of lava cools and dries.The light is the reason why l snapped this photo. No. 154
155The view from this hotel window depicts Hawai'i. I have photographed many window views, yet, this is one of my favorites. l liked the textures of the scene and my husband in a state of relaxation. No. 155
156Driving from Vaitape', We entered a jungle and from no-where, this deserted house appeared. The light, shapes and view from the window drew my attention. After developing this photo, the cross in the door became a focus of the image. No. 156
157I always photograph windows in our hotel rooms. Unaware of the TV screen, I snapped this image that captured a piece of history. Documentation with a camera occurs with every shot. No. 157
127Hiking up this "Torre" was a thrill. The day was very warm and the summit marked the end of our assent. The shape of this ancient piece, the light and the design of this bell filled up the sky. After developing the film, l appreciated the contrast. No. 127
86We were leaving Seattle, Washington after attending College Basketball's Final Four, when this scene and view reminded me of travel. People waiting, (and watching), in airports is fascinating. All of us looking at the plane and the action outside of the window. No. 086
